Elm City Theater Company The Elm City Theater Company began in the fall of 2006 through a class at the University of New Haven called Production Practicum. Among other things, the eight people in the class were instructed to create a functional theater company and put on one performance. As the semester went on, people from all over campus expressed interest in being involved with the production. The response to the first performance was so immense that it was decided that the company would continue on as a fully student-run theater group. In January of 2006 they participated for the first time in the Region 1 festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Since then, the Elm City Theater Company has repeatedly had actors and directors nominated to the festival in increasing numbers.
